The Seamoriow U-15 Championship is a grassroots youth football competition organised by Seamoriow Sports to provide young footballers with a structured platform to compete, develop their abilities and gain valuable exposure.
Since its inception in 2022, the championship has grown into one of the notable youth football competitions within Lagos’ grassroots football community, bringing together academies and youth teams in a competitive environment designed to encourage talent identification and development.
The competition is built around a simple philosophy: young players should have the opportunity to play meaningful football, test themselves against quality opposition, learn from competition and take important steps in their football development.
The fifth edition of the Seamoriow U-15 Championship takes place from August 24 to September 6, 2026, at the Seamoriow Sports Complex in Ikotun, Lagos. The 2026 championship is being played under the theme:

Surrender – Strive – Succeed
The theme reflects the values that Seamoriow Sports seeks to promote through the competition. Players are encouraged to surrender to the process of development, strive for excellence and pursue success while maintaining discipline, humility, respect and good sportsmanship.
The official draw for the fifth edition was held on August 18, 2026, at the Seamoriow Sports Complex, with representatives of the Lagos State Football Association, Alimosho Football Coaches and Lagos State Coaches Council in attendance.
The competition will culminate in the grand finale on September 6, 2026.
Seamoriow U-15 enter the fifth edition as defending champions after winning the 2025 championship.
Their triumph marked a significant moment in the development of the Seamoriow youth programme and further strengthened the club’s commitment to building a competitive pathway for young players. Seamoriow’s success in the previous edition was complemented by an outstanding individual performance from Victor Sunday, who finished as the tournament’s top scorer.
The defending champions will face another strong field of academies and youth teams in their bid to retain the title in 2026.
The Seamoriow U-15 Championship is not solely about determining a winner. At its core is a commitment to talent identification, player development and opportunity.
At the U-15 level, young footballers are entering an important stage of their development. They are developing greater tactical awareness, positional understanding, technical consistency, physical preparation and the mental qualities required to compete at higher levels.
The championship gives players the opportunity to experience these demands in a structured competitive environment. It also provides coaches, scouts and football development stakeholders with an opportunity to observe young players in competitive situations rather than only during routine training sessions.
For the players, the competition represents an opportunity to showcase their abilities, gain confidence, learn from difficult matches and potentially attract attention from clubs, academies and other football development organisations.
The Seamoriow U-15 Championship was established as part of Seamoriow Sports’ broader commitment to football development in Alimosho and Lagos State.
From its inaugural edition in 2022, the competition has continued to attract academies and youth teams from across the grassroots football community.
The tournament has also benefited from the involvement and support of the Lagos State Football Association, with emphasis placed on proper player screening, competitive standards and the importance of balancing football development with education.
Previous editions have produced high-scoring matches and intense competition. During the 2024 championship, 16 teams scored 124 goals in the group stage before the tournament progressed to the knockout rounds.
The growth of the competition reflects the increasing demand for well-organised youth football platforms in Lagos.
The fifth edition comes with increased financial rewards for both teams and individual players.
